I came across this YouTube story today as I was thinking about how un-safe a lot of americans are feeling today. This feeling hit home this morning when learning of a fatal shooting in my neighborhood. Early this morning a 53 year old resident of Bohemia, NY 11716, Suffolk County, was mortally shot inside his home during an apparent home invasion. He was shot in the stomach during the apparent robbery. The incident is still being investigated by the Suffolk Police Department and more details will be forthcoming in the days to follow.

I have always felt safe in my home. As a former Police Sergeant I have been fortunate to have the right to carry a firearm which has given me the ability to protect myself and family. Most americans don’t have that luxury.
